Changing the face and look of an existing movement is always delicate. It's not only about changing the design, it's about adapting a "technical" design. On the Tiffany & Co. Grand 8-day Jump Hour, I was able to closely work together with the technical team from Vaucher Manufacture in Fleurier to come up with a own "Tiffany-Style" movement design.
In comparison to our outcome, from left to right, the Parmigiani movement design, the Bulgari movement design and lastly, the Tiffany & Co. movement design.
The Tiffany Grand 8-day Jump Hour has a hand-wound, form fit mechanical movement with an 8-day power reserve. The long-running, 28-jewel movement is completely customized to Tiffany specifications by the Fleurier-based manufacture, Vaucher, and is housed in a six-piece curvilinear case of smoothed lines and arcs in 18kt. yellow, white or rose gold, with presentation display back.
The dials are custom colored, hand guillochéd on an 18 kt gold plate, with jump hour indicator at 12 o'clock and sweep seconds sub dial at 6, and hand applied diamond cut markers. Hands are either solid gold or blued steel.
